Database View: view_resource_contention

This view is one of a suite of related views used by the VM scheduler to control the management of VMs. The suite includes:

1. view_active_resource_shortfall
2. view_available_resources
3. view_groups_of_idle_jobs

6. view_resource_contention

The view_resource_contention is used by the VM scheduler together with the new_VMs_throttle configuration option to govern the rate at which new VMs are instantiated on a cloud irrespective of the CSV2 group. The view provides a set of VM counters for each unique cloud, identified by the authurl. The VM scheduler limits the number of new VMs, those either ‘starting’ or ‘unregistered’, to the configuration value.)

Columns:

• authurl (String(128)):

  Is the authentication/authorization URL of a cloud currently defined to CSV2 by one or more groups.

• VMs (Integer):

  Is the total number of VMs started by CSV2 running on the cloud.

• starting (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘starting’ state.

• unregistered (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘unregistered’ state.

• idle (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘idle’ state.

• running (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘running’ state.

• retiring (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘retiring’ state.

• manual (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘manual’ state.

• error (Integer):

  Is the number of VMs started by CSV2 on the cloud in the ‘error’ state.
