NAME
cloudscheduler vm update - update VMs on cloudscheduler version 2 (csv2) servers
SYNOPSIS
cloudscheduler vm update -vo option [ options …]
DESCRIPTION
The cloudscheduler vm update action updates VMs from the current group on csv2 servers. This action is available to any user, provided they are in the group that the VMs belong to. Only native, not foreign , VMs can be updated.
OPTIONS
Mandatory

The following are mandatory parameters and must be specified:

-vo option, --vm-option option
What action should be done to selected VMs. The value for option must be one of: kill , retire , manctl , or sysctl . If option is kill the selected VMs will be killed if they are also under system control. If option is retire the selected VMs will be retired if they are also under system control. If option is manctl the selected VMs will be removed from system control and the csv2 server will not interact with them. If option is sysctl the selected VMs will be placed under system control and the csv2 server will manage them.
Optional

The following are optional parameters:

-cn cloud, --cloud-name cloud
The name of a cloud definition that exists on the csv2 server. Filters the VM list to only VMs that are running on cloud.
-vh hosts, --vm-hosts hosts
Is ether a list of one or more comma seperated hostsnames used to filter the selection of VMs to be updated, or is an integer specifying the number of VMs to select from a predefined filter. This filter, the kill/retire priority list, selects all VMs in priority order; idle VMs first, followed by the remaining VMs in descending job age order.
-vS status, --vm-status status
The status of the VM. Filters the VM list to only VMs with sta- tus. The value of status must be one of: foreign, manual, error, unregistered, retiring, running, or other.

-H , --long-help
Requests the man page style help for the current command. Long help can be requested for the cloudscheduler command, a specific object, or a specific object/action.
-h , --help
Requests short help for the current command. Help can be requested for the cloudscheduler command, a specific object, or a specific object/action.
-s server, --server server
The name of the target server. There must be an entry in the cloudscheduler defaults that matches server and it must have an authentication method.
-v , --version
Requests that the versions of both the CLI client and the targeted server be printed in addition to any other command output.
-xA , --expose-API
Requests trace messages detailing the API calls and responses issued and received by the cloudscheduler command.
EXAMPLES
  1. Retire all native VMs in the current group: $ cloudscheduler vm update -vo retire vm update, VMs retired=10.
  2. Change all VMs in an error state on the cloud “example” to be under manual control: $ cloudscheduler vm update -vo manctl -cn example -vS error vm update, VMs set to manual control=5.
  3. Kill a specific VM: $ cloudscheduler vm update -vo kill -vh example-vm vm update, VMs killed=1.
